THE PIGS GOLFING SOCIETY

PRESIDENT; PHIL  LOADER

OFFICIAL WEBSITE

Thanks for stopping by. Have a look around and get to know us.

The Plastics Industry Golf Society (or "PIGS" in short) has now been running for 90 years interrupted only briefly during the WW11 period. The all male industry related networking society still functions as originally intended today. However in recent years it has opened up membership to individuals outside of the Industry but remains still a great and enjoyable way to network on the business front provisioning the opportunity to make new and maintain old friendships.

New members and guests are always welcome at our regional meetings, where we play some of the top 100 courses in the UK, including Woodhall Spa (National Event) Sunningdale GC (London),  Beau Desert GC (Midlands), Caldy GC (North West) and Moortown GC (Yorkshire).

We welcome your thoughts, comments, and new members. Please use the contact form to get in touch with our National Secretary expressing your particular regional interest.

  PIGS NATIONAL EVENT
         Hawkstone Park

Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th September 2024

This was our return visit to Hawkstone Park following our 2023 visit, again with good representation from all of our four sections.  Having played both the Championship and Hawkstone courses the previous year it was decided to confine this year's play to the Hawkstone Course as it was agreed by all the better playing option. The  Invoco Trophy "Pairs" competition was competed for on Tuesday's arrival, with finalists in the Beetle competition also playing concurrently in the Invoco Pairs competition. The weather could have been a bit kinder, with all of us in receipt of a broad mix of wind rain and a little sunshine.

On completion of the days play and perhaps just a little thirst quenching, we all checked in to the hotel anticipating good food and the opportunity to catch up with old friends and perhaps a drink or two. We were not disapointed.

Wednesday's play commenced on time accommodating the "Beetle" final and playing for the Cyril Last and Monsanto team trophies. Unfortunately the weather did not treat us kindly...at all! Delivering in equal measure cold winds, heavy rain, hail showers and laterly just a little sun. All of which was clearly reflected in the score returns.

With all competitions completed and players heading back to the hotel for a hot bath or shower, we could all look forward to Dinner in our own private room, prize giving and our usual banter and socialising.

The weather conditions proved significant in terms of scoring on this occasion, with honours spread across all sections. However the North West section did manage to raise their heads above the crowd and shine, winning the Monsanto Team Trophy, the Beetle Trophy and sharing the Invoco Pairs Trophy. A great performance guys.

To view all winners receiving their trophies please go to the GALLERY Section.

NOTE: The Society is to make a welcome return to Woodhall Spa next year playng both the Bracken and Hotchkin Courses on consecutve days.

Dates are;

Tuesday 16th September - Wednesday 17th September 2025
